How does Acupuncture work?
The acupuncturist inserts ultra fine needles at chosen points along the channels of energy. The aim is to stimulate the body’s own healing response and to restore its natural balance.
The flow of qi can be disturbed by any number of factors. These include emotional states such as anxiety, anger, and sadness as well lifestyle factors such as diet, hereditary factors, illness and trauma.
Treatment is aimed at the root of your condition, as well as your symptoms. This approach can lead to a more permanent resolution or improvement of your condition and can also bring about a sense of well-being and balance in your life.
How many sessions will I have?
This will depend on your symptoms. Generally your acupuncturist will suggest coming for 4-6 treatments and then reviewing how things are going. Initially treatments might be weekly and then spread out as your symptoms improve. Your acupuncturist will talk to you about this and will work with you in a way that suits your and your circumstances.
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture has been used in China and other eastern cultures for thousands of years to restore, promote and maintain good health. Its benefits are now widely acknowledged all over the world and in the past decade traditional acupuncture has begun to feature more prominently in mainstream healthcare in the UK.
Traditional acupuncture takes a holistic approach to health and regards illness as a sign that the body is out of balance. The exact pattern and degree of imbalance is unique to each individual. The traditional acupuncturist’s skill lies in identifying the precise nature of the underlying disharmony and selecting the most effective treatment.
